What is a Community Interest Company?
Rising Horizons is registered as a Community Interest Company (CIC) in the United Kingdom. A CIC is a special type of limited company which exists to benefit the community rather than private shareholders.
The Asset Lock
As a CIC, we are bound by an asset lock which means:
- All profits must be reinvested into our social mission
- Assets cannot be distributed to members or shareholders
- If we cease operations, assets must transfer to another CIC or charity
- We cannot be bought or sold for private profit
Our Social Purpose
Our registered community interest objectives are:
- To empower young people, particularly those facing disadvantage, through education, training, and personal development
- To facilitate cultural exchanges and international experiences that broaden horizons and develop global citizenship
